Food is definitely a big part of my day. It's in my blood. At every breakfast with my grandma (and now with my mom) we would be asked "What should we have for dinner?" It's a joke between my sister and me, but now as I manage my own house I can't help thinking "What's for dinner?" as I eat my waffle and drink my coffee. I set out to use this blog to give our family and friends a frequent glimpse into our lives. While menu planning is definitely a part of that it just seems, well, boring!
So it is with great pleasure I launch my Menu Mommy blog soley dedicated to weekly menus. I'm also hoping (big emphasis on hoping) to post more recipes for those without links. Please be sure to add this blog to your following list and keep the comments coming with your own menus and recipes! :)

Menu Plan Monday
We had a very nice visit with Papa and Yia Yia (Keenan's parents) this weekend! Ari and Keira had so much fun with them and they helped us get our fence up for our new courtyard in front of the house. I'll get up some pictures and more details later this week.
I cooked up a pot of beans and a double-batch of creamy tomato sauce while they were here so we'll be enjoying leftovers this week (I'll be enjoying not cooking as much and we'll all enjoy eating them again!).
Monday - Simple Salmon Supper (salmon is finally on sale again!)
Tuesday - Jambalaya
Wednesday - Fettucine with Creamy Tomato Sauce and Italian Sausage
Thursday - Beans and Cornbread
Friday - Oriental Chicken Wraps
Saturday - Meatballs (from the freezer) with either sweet and sour sauce or BBQ sauce, rice and veggies
Sunday - Hamburger Helper and veggies

Menu Plan Monday
I didn't plan on my menu's having themes, but it seems I have done so since starting this weekly post (I recall one week coming primarily from my Real Simple magazine). This week I have 3 meals courtesy of In the Mix and 3 from Everyday Food. Enjoy :)
Monday - Grilled Turkey and Cheese on Sourdough with avocado
Tuesday - Spice Rubbed Turkey Breast with Sweet Potatoes
Wednesday - Mexican Lasagna (this is a vegetarian dish, but Keenan requested I add meat to it this week to make it more filling. I plan to cook up some ground beef taco style.)
Thursday - Swedish Meatballs with Sauted Brussel Sprouts
Friday - Fettucine with Italian Sausage and creamy tomato sauce (see comments from last week's menu for recipe from In the Mix)
Saturday - Brown Garlic Stir Fry with Beef and Tofu
Sunday - Indian Chicken Curry

Menu Plan Monday
Before I get to it, a quick update from last week's menu. All 4 of the "quicker, healthier comfort food" recipes from Real Simple were delicious! Our favorites were the Macaroni and Cheese with Cauliflower and the Turkey Meatloaf with Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes (we almost ate the whole thing in one sitting!). They still don't have the recipes on their site, so let me know if you want me to send or post them.
Here's this week's menu (mostly pantry/freezer items):
Monday - Black Beans and Rice
Tuesday - Miso Soup and Egg Rolls
Wednesday - Tacos
Thursday - Turkey Pepperoni Pizza with salad
Friday - Chicken Tikka Masala with Rice
Saturday - Keenan and Sara's Date Night :)
Sunday - Super Bowl Party at a friend's house

Menu Plan Monday

It's that time again. I received my latest issue of Real Simple magazine that has a great section on comfort food faster and heathier. We'll be trying 4 of the recipes. Unfortunately they don't have the recipes online yet so no links this week.
Here we go...
Monday - Smothered Burritos (made with leftover beef and beans from last week)
Tuesday - Beef Stroganoff
Wednesday - Turkey Meatloaf with mashed potatoes
Thursday - Mac 'n Cheese with Cauliflower
Friday - Orecchiette with Roasted Broccoli and Walnuts (vegetarian)
Saturday - Chicken Cesar Salad with Sourdough toast
Sunday - Eat Out

Menu Plan Monday

This is something I've been doing for a while now and have been wanting to share here, but just haven't had the time. Every Sunday night I make my menu for the week to go grocery shopping on Monday morning. Now that things are more settled I'm hoping to make this a weekly post. I found a site called OrgJunkie.com that "sponsors" this great way of sharing menus to give others ideas and new recipes. I'm hoping to get the ball rolling with those of you checking in here (I think many of you have a similar way of grocery shopping), but please don't feel obligated. You can leave your menu in the comments section or let us know if you've put your menu up on your blog. For now I'll just be putting up the menu and I'll try to link to the recipe if it's available online. If there's a certain recipe you want, just let me know and I'll email it to you :)
That said, here's this week's menu at the Roach Motel:
Monday - Shredded Beef Tacos & Mock Refried Beans (thanks Kelsey)
Tuesday - Jambalaya
Wednesday - Ravioli Soup
Thursday - Chicken Nuggets and Sweet Potato Fries
Friday - English Muffin Pizzas
Saturday - Breakfast - Brunch Pizza; Dinner - Hot Dogs & Baked Beans
Sunday - Eat Out
FYI - we pick and choose which meal we want each day and I try to use the meals with fresh ingredients first before they spoil. I just write it out this way to make sure I have 7 meals planned.
Bon Appitit! :)
