Turkey Berzerkey

This is one of the videoes I took at Ari's Pow Wow a few weeks ago.  The lady leading the song is one of Ari's teachers.  Ari is somewhere across the room behind his teacher.

Winter Prep

Over two years ago we purchased a fireplace insert with a blower in an attempt to lower our heating bills and keep our living room with high ceiling warm in the winter.  It sure does the trick and we absolutely love it!  Keenan keeps an eye out for free firewood throughout the year.  This year we are about stocked after our church cleared a bunch of trees and left the wood for the taking.  Last year he purchased a log splitter because we acquired some super-hard oak that was resistant to the axe.  Ari took to the helm a few weeks ago while helping Keenan stock our racks.

Pow Wow Wow

Each year the pre-K classes put on a Pow Wow program at the kids' school.  They practice, talk about Native American culture and make headbands and necklaces in the few weeks leading up to the program.  The 3 year old classes (Keira's class) do the crafts and come to watch the program as well.  It was cute, short and sweet.

I wasn't able to catch any pictures of Keira at school that day, but I had plenty of opportunities at home as she wore her headband and necklace daily for the next week!

8 Months

Asher is now 8 months old!

He is not:
• teething
• crawling

But he is:
• allergic to milk & peanut products :(
• around 17 lbs
• cute
• sweet

Halloween Wrap-Up

I thought I'd better get a Halloween post up before Thanksgiving rolls around!  Sorry about being MIA last month.  I honestly don't know where the time has gone.  I have a couple of posts in the works (in my head anyway) so hopefully you'll see more of me here soon.

Our costumes came together easily this year.  Because of his Star Wars obsession and that of anything "bad guy" related, Ari chose to be Darth Vader.  I'm not sure how exactly it came about, but Keira then wanted to be R2D2.  Since Asher's still a baby and I get to pick what his costume is, I went with Yoda to keep with the theme.  We were invited to a party this year so Keenan and I joined in the fun as Han Solo and Princess Leia.  I had planned to make homemade versions of all our costumes, but as luck would have it, I found Ari's for $12 at WalMart!  I spent anywhere from $5-10 on the others and mine cost $0! 

Besides the party, the kids wore their costumes to storytime once and the YMCA on Halloween day.  Then, of course, there was trick-or-treating.  Our first stop was to the retirement home where our next-door neighbor now calls home.  This was his first Halloween there and we didn't want him to miss seeing the kids dressed up.  After that, we grabbed a quick dinner and Keenan took Ari and Keira up and down the street.  Asher and I held down the fort and handed out candy.  I was surprised how many kids came by considering it was a school night!  Must have been the beautiful weather.

Because of all our running around, I didn't get many pictures on Halloween night.  Asher was a good sport, though.
