Yum-O!

For those of you that may not know, I'm a big Rachel Ray fan. Mainly of her recipes, not so much her (I can't stand her daytime talk show). I subscribed to her magazine for 2 years in hopes of getting more of her recipes in addition to my 2 cookbooks. I was sadly disappointed - not many I liked - so I canceled. As I was looking through my last issue, I realized that all of the recipes in the menu planner sounded great. The best part was, it comes with a handy dandy grocery list so all the work's done for you! Well, except for the cooking :) I just cooked #5 of 6 (I passed on the tuna steak recipe) last night and we were satisfied again! So far all 5 have been delicious, summery-fresh and most of all easy! I thought I'd share for all my fellow chefs out there. Here's the link!

Enjoy! er, bon appetite! :)

A Weekend of Firsts

We traveled to Wichita for the long 4th of July weekend. We had a lot of fun and Ari experienced a lot of "firsts."

First 4th of July

First time meeting Phinn (& his mommy & daddy)

First time swimming

First trip to the zoo (he was not impressed by the penguins)

but he did like the bears, gorillas and elephants

First time in Papa's hot rod

First wedding (Keenan's cousin)

It was a busy weekend, but we had fun! :)

Extreme Peek-A-Boo!

Ari really likes it when we hide behind a wall then jump out and say "boo"! The first time we tried it he let out this squeal we'd never hear before - it's too cute! Here's a video of me playing peek-a-boo with Ari (if you look closely, you'll see me in the reflection on the tv screen).

In other Ari news, the increased calories and addition of chicken to his diet has made a huge difference. We've also started a small amount of barley which has stayed in his tummy! He's chubbin' up again (talk about a Buddha-belly!) and has more energy than I've ever seen. He's been rolling like crazy, working on crawling and started jumping in his exer-saucer! He's also taken a liking to playing "catch" - rolling a ball back and forth, and is figuring out some of his more interactive toys. Oh! and best of all, he started saying "mama"! :)

Here is his "official" 9 month picture. I am quite pleased with it, if I say so myself. So far I've taken all his official pictures at home and I think this one is in the top 2 - with his 1 month picture being #1.

Happy 4th of July!! :)
