First Haircut

I gave Keira her first haircut (trim really) tonight.  I’ve heard little one’s hair tends to stay more even after you trim it up.  I didn’t realize how uneven it was until I had this chance for a close look.  She didn’t need one per se, but it was getting a little unruly.

See what I mean?

She did pretty well after watching Ari get his haircut.  I don’t think she would have sat still much longer than she did, though.

Not so sure about this.

Doing ok.

(Sorry so dark.  The lighting in our living room at night isn’t great.)

One happy, fresh-coiffed girl :)

Brother-Sister Love

It seems we have turned a corner in Ari and Keira's relationship. Keira has always adored her big brother, but the feeling is definitely not mutual. Lately, though, Ari has invited Keira to play with him, helped her with things like taking her shoes off and even created games with her. It's been a welcome change and warms this Momma's heart :)

Some of these pictures are from a few weeks ago and some from this week. And no, I did not ask them to pose for any of them -they're just how I found them!

Let’s Go Fly A Kite

This weekend was Grandpa, Bobo and Auntie Jill’s turn for a visit.  I think we did a good job of wearing them out.  Friday was back to the museum.  This time around the water area was open, but it was still a little chilly to play out there.  It was also crawling with kids on field trips so it was loud and overwhelming at times.  We still managed to have fun and hit all the highlights, though.

Saturday was the local Kite Festival at the park just down the street.  They couldn’t have picked a more perfect day.  Sunny, warm and windy!  There was a bounce house, face painters, kite crafts and of course, kites as far as the eye could see.  We brought a picnic lunch and spent almost 3 hours there.  We were so worn out we just spent a lazy day around the house on Sunday.

What Happened to My Baby?!?

Keenan and I just recently started talking about when we should move Keira to a "big girl bed." We had settled on some time this summer and had started making mental plans about furniture and our bedroom situation.

Today our neighbor calls and offers us the toddler bed they no longer need. We say sure and they bring it over. I'm thinking we'll put it away for a few months until we're (ok....I'm) ready.

I pass the bed as I take Keira back for her nap and she starts crying "Bincess bed! Bincess bed!" I ask her if she'd like to try her new Princess Bed and she says yes. Of course, she was much too excited about getting in and out of the bed to actually fall asleep in it.

*sigh* She's already become so independent the past few months and now this? I just wasn't quite ready for this. She's also been showing many signs of potty training and wants to sit on the potty any chance we'll give her. Looks like our house will be baby-free soon. What's a Momma to do?
