It's a...

...surprise! Yes, I'm evil, I know. We had a great doctor's appointment and sonogram this morning. The baby is growing right on track and everything looks healthy. As of today, the baby is approximately 7.5 inches long and 10 oz! I need to compare what Ari was at this stage, but I think this one may be a bit bigger. As for me, normal blood pressure and no signs of pre-eclampsia thus far! I've been monitoring my b/p at home, but it was nice to have the reassurance from the doctor. I don't have to go back for 4 weeks which is nice. I think after that I'll be on the every other week track for a while.

Otherwise, we're all doing well - healthy and happy. Ari's bump was gone the next day and the bruise has turned a lovely shade of yellow.

Until next time... :)

Knoty Boy

Ari got his first official boo-boo today (he's had some miscellaneous bumps, bruises and scrapes before). We were all hanging out in the office. He started walking quickly towards something and tripped over Keenan's foot crashing his forehead into the metal leg of a chair. The bump swelled almost instantly and was quite the knot for a while. He wouldn't sit still long enough for us to hold an ice pack on it and was back to himself in no time (with the help of a Hershey kiss or two). The swelling's gone down considerably, but there's still a bump with a purple bruise. Poor little guy (or maybe it's more poor mommy) :(

More Mad Skillz

In addition to walking, Ari's become quite competent at using a fork and spoon. He mastered the fork first, but is catching on quickly to the spoon. Here's proof:

I love the way he says "dada" in this video - it reminds me of the aliens in Mars Attacks (a great comedy if you haven't seen it)! :)

I also think we're getting close to the "18 month word explosion" as he's been picking up new words left and right. My new favorite is "my-main" translated means airplane. It's too cute!

No Winter for You!

We've been enjoying a very mild winter here this year. With the temperatures so nice, Ari and I have been spending some time each afternoon outside. We go out front, get the mail and he practices walking on the sidewalk and driveway. It's really helped improve his walking skills and it's a nice change of scenery from the inside of the house. On the weekends Keenan joins us and has been giving Ari rides on the skateboard. Here are some pic's of my 2 boys:

Sickness

The stomach flu has been running rampant through our house for the past 4 days. Ari came down with it first, Thursday night. None of us got much sleep that night. He was better by Friday, but couldn't keep milk down until yesterday. It hit me next, Saturday night. Again, no sleep, plus all the symptoms that come along with it. I couldn't move off the couch yesterday and Ari couldn't understand why I wouldn't pick him up or play with him :( I'm stil not 100% today and Ari still doesn't have his appetite back. Keenan came home from work after a few hours today and is now where I was yesterday. We'll see if he stays home tomorrow...

I'm hoping for nice weather this week so I can do some serious scrubbing and air out the house. My family's coming to visit next week and I do NOT want them to get this. I think it's the worst stomach flu I've ever had. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant on top of being sick and now I can't tell if I'm having morning sickness or still sick from the flu...sigh.

Hopefully the next post will be happier...
