Our sweet baby girl turned 5 today! I know it's cliche, but I really cannot believe it! I spent much of her first 2 years in a daze. Then Asher came along when she was 2 and a half sending me into another new mommy fog. Add in our move and Ari starting kindergarten last year and the time has just flown by! She has really been coming out of her shell lately around non-family members that she's comfortable with and definitely knows what she wants. Lately she's been trying on some bossy pants for size. Oh my! Mostly she is very sweet and has even started wanting to snuggle which was a rare treat in the past. She loves both her brothers so much and Asher has brought out her nurturing side. Keira has been learning to cook by helping me in the kitchen lately and loves to keep busy coloring, crafting or playing.
We planned her party about 3 weeks ago. After weighing all the factors, we decided to purchase an inflatable water-slide we've had our eyes on for a few summers. Here it is in action when we got it out for a test run:

As luck would have it, the day of her party (yesterday) was rainy and only 75 degrees! We knew the kiddos would all take one trip down the slide and decide they were too cold so we opted for a last-minute indoor party instead. Right before the party started, I printed out some coloring sheets which proved to be a big hit. After a round of Pin the Bow on Hello Kitty, we had cupcakes. We let the kids burn off their sugar-highs with some Just Dancing on the Wii. Keira then requested to open presents and that was it! It was short, but sweet and everyone left happy!
This morning we soaked in the cool weather playing with bubbles outside. Then Ari and Keira started their second week of swimming lessons despite the rain. We all enjoyed some hot cocoa to warm up once we got back home. Tonight we'll continue the celebration at a local BBQ restaurant. Keira requested "meat on the bone," a.k.a. ribs, for dinner.
Happy Birthday, Keira! We love you so much!
