Another Video!

For some reason Google took a long time to approve this video so it's getting posted later than I'd planed. Oh well. This one highlights Ari's sitting skills along with more rolling and "da da" talk. I forgot to mention that he's started mimicing us when we shake our heads "no" or "yes". You'll see him start to do it in the video. In the last couple of days he's taken to shaking his head "no" whenever he wants to - not just copying us. We have some fun games with it - "Ari, are you a silly boy?" ~Big grin and a vigorous shake "no"~ "Ari, do you want some more apples?" ~Big grin and shaking "no" then "yes" then "no" then in a circle. We'll try to capture it on video soon.

In other Ari news, all 4 of his top front teeth are coming in! He's had a bit of a rough week with it. I think at least 2 have broken through, but he doesn't like me checking.

Tongiht we're going to Ari's daycare's 3rd anniversary party. I have no idea what to expect, but I hope it's fun. Other than that, just another quiet weekend at home enjoying the mild weather and no rain!

I just realized Ari will be 8 months old tomorrow! Oh my goodness! I guess that means I'll be emailing and posting pictures on Monday!

Until next time... :)

New Pic's and a Flick!

Well it's taken me a while, but I'm finally adding some new pictures and a video here! Ari's really taken off developmentally in the last couple of weeks. He says "da da" now - well more like "da da da da...." - and I think he's actually connecting the "word" with both of us. He's also grabbing his feet and sticking them in his mouth (like everything else he gets his hands on!). If we put him in a sitting position he'll stay there for 10 minutes or so and can even right himself if he starts falling to one side or the other. He really likes to play this way and loves to "pet" the cat when he walks by :) Let's see...what else? He's making strides towards crawling - pushing up tall on his arms, kicking with his legs - and he's doing pretty good in the eating department as well. He loves his fruits and is learning to like veggies now.

Anyway...here's the video. It's not terribly exciting, but I know I like to watch it. It highlights some of his new skills and his tooth! :)

Oh...in case you were wondering...we did go to the grand opening of Arlington Highlands. Unfortunately, it was raining so we didn't stay long and therefore didn't take pictures. We may go back in a couple of weeks so I'll post pictures if we take some then.

I have another video showing Ari's sitting skills that I hope to post this week. Until then... :)

Scary Thought!

My first project at my current employer was a 900,000 square foot retail center - Arlington Highlands. It's now complete and the grand opening is tomorrow! I heard a commercial on the radio for the festivities and it gave me goose bumps - exciting, nervous, scary! I know I probably shouldn't tell you that the structural engineer is scared about these buildings that hundreds of people will be going in and out of, but I am. I had the same feelings when the Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop, TX , the W condos in Dallas and the parking garage at the Gaylord Texan Hotel opened. (I hope this doesn't come across as a brag about these projects. I'm truly glad that I worked on all of them and proud of their prominence in this area.)

It came out really cool. We're planning to go the the grand opening tomorrow so I'll take some pictures then.
