Progress!!

The last week or so, and especially the last 2 days, Ari has made tremendous progress with walking. Just today (on his 16 month "birthday" no less) he went from this:

to this!

He's even made greater progress since the latter video - taking 10 steps in a row! He's catching on quickly!

Ahhhh....relief! :)

Snow, Snow and more Snow

We've been home for our holiday travels for 5 days now and I've still yet to download pictures. I wanted to post about our adventures so I thought I'd better do that before I forget and I'll post pic's later (hopefully this weekend).

We left for Wichita from Oklahoma City (we spent the night at Keenan's uncle's house) on Saturday, Dec. 22. A normally 2 hour drive took us 3.5 thanks to a horrible snow storm as we approached the city limits. We had white-out conditions as the wind would kick up and ice built up on the wiper blades making yet another visual challenge. With lots of prayer and Keenan's ability to drive calmly under such circumstances, we finally arrived at the Roach Hotel. We ended up staying an extra day to unwind and let the roads clear before heading on to Denver.

Our travels after that proved less adventurous - thankfully! We had a beautiful snow on Christmas day with about 6" after the weather weenies predicted 1-2". It snowed again that Thursday with another 12" or so (again, more than predicted). Since that storm moved into Kansas we delayed our departure again and left for Wichita on the 29th. We made it home safe and sound on the 30th. We have had our fill of snow for at least another year!

Christmas itself was great. With Ari being older he caught on quickly and impressed our families as he exclaimed "WOOOOOWWW!" as he ripped pieces of wrapping paper off his presents. He of couse came in with a large haul of toys, clothes and books and is enjoying some new "scenery."

It was so nice to see all of our families and spend time just relaxing. Thanks to all the snow we didn't have to make the rounds to see everyone in town.

Ari's been making leaps-and-bounds with his vocabulary. If we use a new word with him consistently, he'll pick it up in a day or two. I think he learned 3 new words while we were gone. I've decided that he must be focusing his energy on mental development instead of physical as he's still not walking. I try not to let it get to me, but some days it does. I know he can do it since his cruises practically all day. He has taken a step or two in the last couple of days, but they're usually lunging steps to get to me. sigh. Oh well. We have his 15 month check up on Monday so we'll see how that goes.

Ok...this is getting long and I know Keenan doesn't like long, wordy blogs, so I'd better close for now. I'll make the next post pure pictures to make up for it!;)
